Carla's Writing

In honor of Carla's upcoming birthday on August 3, I am posting a series of short stories - we would probably call them "creative nonfiction"  - that she wrote in a writing class she took at IU in 1954.  (Beth, am I right on the date?)

Blue Suit - about her mother-in-law's wedding at 68 ("after 32 years alone")
Picnic - about a childhood picnic with her mother and sister Amy
Art Teacher - about a high school teacher who flunked her in art
Company for the Weekend - about a visit from her brother, Bud, and his wife Phyllis, when Howard was a baby
Little Girl Gone Astray - about her daughter Jill's kidnapping (and return) at age 6
